HOW TO MAKE COSMETICAL TERRACED HOUSES IN TS2

Hey guys, I've been playing a bit of Sims 2 again lately and tried to use this guide for once. I promised to translate it for our friends on Ultimate Mafia, so.. here it is. :)

HOW TO MAKE COSMETICAL TERRACED HOUSES

You need Mootilda's LotAdjuster for this tutorial

Step 1:
Take a lot 20 squares wider than the size you ultimately want to have. If you want a 10-tile-wide house for example, you take a 3x2 sized lot (or any other depth you like).

Step 2:
Build your house 11 squares away from the lot borders, making your house 8 squares wide at first.

Step 3:
Place a wall 1 square long from the house to the side, so that the lot border is 10 empty squares away. Building a wall on the future lot border will cause an error when shrinking the lot. Try to make your building layout look like the picture shown underneath. If you want to create a lot wider than 10, you can add +10, +20 or +30 as you like.

Step 4:
Try to build the roof as follows: first build a roof on just the closed square room, like in the screenshot underneath.

Step 5:
Now build another roof on the whole building. Then remove the outer walls of the roof, making a kind of ditch on the sides. These ditches are needed because walls can't be placed on the lot borders, so these steps will make it look like a ditch.

Step 6:
Add some wallpapers on the outside and think of things to add which you can't when the house is to the side. Place those now, before it's too late.

Step 7:
Save and quit The Sims 2 and launch LotAdjuster.

Step 8:
Pick your neighborhood and lot in LotAdjuster. Open the Advanced menu and select Enable Shrinking. You can now shrink the sides of your lot. Decrease the lot size with -10 (1 unit in the neighborhood view) on the left and right side. This makes your lot less wide. Save and quit LotAdjuster.

Step 9:
Launch The Sims 2 again and go to your lot. It will look like it has the same size at first. When the lot is loaded you can see the lot has shrunk and the walls are reaching the lot borders now.

Step 10:
Decorate your house and finish it.

You can use this technique again for other houses, or you can save this lot to your house bin so you can place multiple copies back. To create an house on the edge, you have to build a new one from scratch. In the end you can build a lovely row of terraced houses.

Good luck building your own terraced houses!
